Second Day of Building...Completed!

There are so many things that I would like to say but can barely keep my eyes open! I am absolutely exhausted and we have only completed the second day of building! That said, it has been such an incredible experience already.

We spent the first part of the first day breaking down the shanty house of a lovely family. The afternoon was spent digging, digging and digging some more! When we arrived today, we continued to dig "wider and deeper." The afternoon, however, was spent mixing cement and laying brick.

The weather has been incredibly hot and the work very challenging. Our interactions with the community in Bawana have been incredibly warm and only positive. The children and adults in the community have been curious, confused and entertained by our presence. Most find it hard to believe that we would travel all the way from Australia, donate loads of money and then actually build a house for a family in need. I suppose it would seem like a strange concept :) I have never been dirtier or happier in my life!

The mobile phone drama is over. With the assistance of our gracious Indian team leader, I am up and running! It took four days and five visits to three different shops - an exercise in patience.

Very tired but will do my best to write soon and upload some photos.

Namaste, A xxo
